Mount Toubkal Trek Itinerary
6 Day, 5 Night itinerary with included meals
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
DAY 1
Arrive into Marrakech. Transfer to your riad hotel, with the evening free to explore the city, the colourful souks, and vibrant local cuisine. A briefing later where you’ll meet the team, and learn all you need to know for the next few days.
DAY 2 - 4 hours walking - Medium Effort (B/L/D)
Breakfast then a short coach ride, 40 miles south into the Atlas mountains. You’ll see the Berber villages, as we head to Imlil, where you begin your walk, through walnut groves and orchards, to the first mountain pass. Fresh orange juice, then a picnic lunch.
Afternoon walk to Azib Tamsoult, and dinner in the cozy refuge, on the rooftop balcony before bed.
DAY 3 - 6 hours walking - Higher Effort (B/L/D)
A walk up the hidden valley of the Cascades d’Irhoulidene - with 20m waterfalls. Up to the high pass of 3400 metres and spectacular snowy views of Mount Toubkal. In the afternoon, you'll descend to the camp, for hot drinks, a hearty lunch, and well earned rest.
Dinner, and an early night. You'll be briefed on tomorrow's bid for the summit, before you get some social time to relax and prepare.
DAY 4 - Summit Day - Higher Effort (B/L/D)
Up in the dark, head torch on, and begin the route to the summit of North Africa. The sun rises as you pick your way upwards heading to 4167 metres and the summit of Mount Toubkal. You’ll experience the magnificent sunrise across the endless Sahara to the east, and take the selfie of a lifetime.
You’ll return to the valley for lunch, before following the river down to the ancient village of Aroumd. Here a comfy bed, a shower and another well earned meal await you. You'll watch the sun set after an unbelievable day, from the roof terrace with views all the way back to the summit. Well done.
DAY 5 - Travel, Shop, Relax, Celebrate (B/D)
A short walk to Imlil, then return on the coach through olive and citrus groves to Marrakech, and relax by the pool, trawl the souks or see the city’s sights. Then the evening meal, looking out over the throbbing heart of Marrakesh, Jemaa El-Fnaa - UNESCO world heritage square in the old town and raise a glass to your success.
DAY 6 - Travel (B)
Your trip ends with the transfer bus to the airport, and on to fresh adventures!
